Astronomers have discovered an Earth-sized exoplanet, Barnard b, orbiting the closest single star to the Sun, Barnard’s Star. The planet is rocky, has a mass roughly half that of Venus, and completes an orbit every 3.3 Earth days.
While it is likely too hot for liquid water due to its proximity to the star, the discovery suggests the potential presence of three other planets in the system. This discovery adds to our understanding of low-mass planets around nearby stars.
